K-9 ALERT LEADS TO NARCOTICS DISCOVERY AT LIMESTONE
|
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) continues to strengthen its commitment to safety and security through its comprehensive Contraband Interdiction Strategy, which includes advanced detection methods and intelligence-driven operations.
On May 2, 2026, at approximately 6:50 a.m., a contraband incident was reported at Limestone Correctional Facility. During routine screening upon entry into the facility, contract nurse Ashleigh Maxwell was detained following a K-9 alert. During the subsequent search, officers discovered and confiscated 12 Oxycodone pills.
ADOC narcotics agents arrested Maxwell, transported her to the Limestone County Jail where she was charged with Promoting Prison Contraband 1st and Illegal Possession of Prescription Medication. The investigation is ongoing and further charges may be pending.
Commissioner Greg Lovelace commented, “This incident illustrates the contraband challenges faced by the department and the effectiveness of our enhanced security measures. Anyone who seeks to compromise the safety and integrity of our institutions will be identified and held accountable. We are unwavering in our mission to protect our staff, the incarcerated population, and the public.”
