ADOC CONTINUES CRACKDOWN ON CONTRABAND WITH ELMORE ARREST
Elmore Correctional Facility – The Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) continues to crack down on illegal contraband in its facilities. The latest arrest happened at Elmore Correctional Facility on Monday, January 15, 2024. A correctional officer observed a subject throwing a backpack over the fence behind one of the dorms. ADOC Law Enforcement Services Division (LESD) agents and K9 responded and secured the perimeter. Suspect Glenn Norman was discovered hiding nearby and was taken into custody without incident.
A total of four backpacks were confiscated containing a variety of controlled substances, cell phones, weapons, lock-picking and rekeying kits, and assorted tobacco products. The suspect was transported to the Elmore County Jail and charged with three counts of Trafficking Illegal Drugs, Promoting Prison Contraband I and II, and Trespassing about Prisons. Norman was arrested two weeks ago at Bullock Correctional Facility by LESD on similar charges. The LESD investigation is ongoing and further charges may be pending.
Commissioner John Q. Hamm said, "Stopping the flow of illegal contraband into ADOC facilities is critical to reducing drug abuse, overdoses, and inmate violence."
