Deborah Crook has had a long career in medical services beginning in 1992. She currently serves as the ADOC Deputy Commissioner of Health Services and Director of Mental Health Services since November of 2018. Before that, she worked for MHM Services, Inc., from 2004-2018, in a series of promotional positions, ending up as the Director of Management Support Services. MHM is a leading national provider of healthcare services to state and local government agencies. Prior to that, she worked as a regional manager for Correctional Medical Services and the executive director of an assisted living facility.
In her role at ADOC, she administers and supervises the statewide mental health quality assurance program, coordinates community and involuntary commitments for mental health inmates with the Alabama Department of Mental Health. She is responsible for the research and development of programs related to behavioral health and substance abuse. She also manages the development and implementation of mental health policies and procedures for the ADOC office of Health Services in accordance with national standards, court orders and settlement agreements.
Crook has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University, a master’s degree in Human Resource Management from Troy University and has earned the Certified Public Manager certification from Auburn University at Montgomery.
