Minimum-In: Work assignments for Minimum-In inmates must be on-property at a minimum, medium or close security facility and may be supervised
by non-security personnel with the express approval of the Warden/designee.
Minimum-Out: Minimum-Out inmates can be assigned to off-property work details without the direct supervision of correctional officers. Minimum-Out inmates will
generally be assigned to Community Work Centers (CWC), with higher security facilities only maintaining a small number for job assignments requiring minimal supervision.
Minimum-Community (Min-Comm): Inmates in this custody are allowed gainful employment in the community on a full-time basis and will be supervised in community based facilities when not working.
Medium:(security level four) correctional facilities are designed for housing inmates who have demonstrated less severe behavioral problems. Inmates are considered to be suitable for participation in formalized institutional treatment programs, work assignments, or other activities within the confines of an institution.

Elmore Correctional Facility opened in 1981 and is located north of Montgomery in Elmore, AL. Elmore provides inmates with drug treatment classes, educational, mental health services, and self-help programs including work opportunities in the facility’s compost and recycle operations that serves the local area. Inmates also are employed on the Highway Squads of the Alabama Department of Transportation. Elmore is classified as a medium custody facility.
Ingram State Technical College offers the following education programs at Elmore:Barbering, Cabinetmaking, Carpentry, CDL, Automotive Mechanics, HVAC, Marine Technology, Industrial Maintenance Technology, and Welding.
