MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama Supreme Court has issued an order to carry out the sentence of death row inmate Demetrius Terrence Frazier by Nitrogen Hypoxia and the Alabama Department of Corrections is proceeding with this statutory duty. Frazier was sentenced to death for the 1991 capital murder of Pauline Brown in Jefferson County.
Accordingly, Governor Ivey has set a 30-hour time frame for the execution to occur beginning at 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2025, and expiring at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025. The execution will take place at the William C. Holman Correctional Facility (CF) in Atmore, Alabama. The tentative start time will be 6:00 p.m. on the 6th. This, of course, may change based on the conclusion of any required legal proceedings.
The number of State Media Witnesses to the execution is limited to five and will be determined as follows:
• One reporter from the Associated Press
• Two print reporters, including one reporter from within the county or closest to the county of conviction (Jefferson County). If more than one agency from this county is present, witness privileges will be determined by draw.
• Two broadcast/online reporters, including one reporter from within the county or closest to the county of conviction (Jefferson County). If more than one agency from this county is present, witness privileges will be determined by draw.
All other members of the media will be required to remain in the Media Center. The state media witnesses will act as pool reporters for the other media attendees. However, no written statement will be issued, and they will first be allowed time to file their own articles.
All news media representatives are asked to wear business professional attire with stable footwear to ensure safety.
